WHY HOT WAX?

Whether you’re new to waxing or a seasoned enthusiast, LYCON is your perfect partner in achieving smoother, more beautiful skin.

  • Because you are fed up with filling up your eyebrows with a pencil every day.
  • Because you want to look natural and put together even when you wake up, relax on holidays or exercise.
  • Because the final look is adapted to your hair colour, skin tone and the direction of your eyebrow hair growth.
  • Because your face will look more youthful and brighter while you will be more confident.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NORMAL AND LYCON WAX?

Lycon hot wax is applied at a lower temperature than traditional strip wax, which means it’s less likely to burn or irritate the skin. Additionally, Lycon hot wax is designed to grip hair more effectively, which can result in less pain and discomfort during the waxing process.

IS LYCON WAX SAFE?

Lycon waxing has a well-deserved reputation as the crème de la crème of hair removal waxes around the world and is the trusted wax of choice in the top spas and salons in over 70 countries. Lycon wax has a huge celebrity fan base such as Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller and Minnie Driver to name but a few. So lay back, wax and relax!

For the procedure and treatment to be successfully performed, the skin must not be damaged or suffering from any existing skin conditions such as eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis, acne, pimples, or any damage in the eyebrow area. If your skin is suffering from damage or any of these conditions, PhiTopic cream or an alternative can be used to eliminate any problems prior to the procedure, so the treatment can be performed.

HOW LONG DO LYCON WAXING RESULTS LAST?

We can remove hairs as short as 1mm which means you don’t need months of growth before your treatment. For intimate waxing such as the Brazilian and Hollywood we use Lycon hot wax which ensures hairs are removed from the root, giving you results that last up to 4 weeks. The beauty of waxing is that it may reduce hair growth over time, meaning you will have less hair to wax each time a new appointment rolls around. It is recommended to book your hair removal appointments on a regular maintenance schedule (every four to six weeks) to ensure the smoothest results and most painless service possible.

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

Have an idea about what you would like before you attend your treatment, and for you to communicate this to your therapist. Remember to trim your bikini to approximately 1 cm for painless experience.

There are four main styles of bikini wax:

  • Hollywood (completely bare)

  • Brazilian (with a landing strip)

  • G-string/Thong (extended bikini)

  • Basic Bikini (clean sides)

During the first week, the colour pigment will appear darker. This is completely normal! The colour will fade on its own and may reduce by up to 50% as the skin heals. The healing process itself takes around 28 days, which is why we wait 4-6 weeks to complete a top-up. The aim of the top-up is to replace any pigment and colouration lost during the healing process. It is absolutely imperative for a top-up procedure to be performed in order for the entire microblading treatment to be a complete success.

LYCON WAXING AFTERCARE

While waxing is a pretty straightforward process, there are some things to bear in mind in terms of aftercare, especially when it comes to your lady bits or man parts. Post-waxing, use a wet towel (cold water is ideal to close pores) to remove any excess hot wax, if any remains post treatment.

After Brazilian/Hollywood hot wax, wearing loose clothing is important to let your skin breathe. Avoid working out and sitting in a tub, Jacuzzi, sauna, or anything with high heat – the area will be sensitive and is more prone to bacteria. Please note that cold/warm (but not hot) showering is permitted, but exfoliation should wait an extra 24 hours, as should skin-to-skin contact (yep, that includes sex).

Post treatment is essential to maintain the skin hydrated and can help decrease inflammation and the chance of infection. And to summarise:

  • Wear loose cotton clothing and well-hydrate your skin

  • Do not exercise or take a hot shower or bath within 24 hours

  • Avoid exposure to UV rays

  • Use Ingrown X-It spray solution or cream, the hardworking Salicylic acid targets ingrown hairs & breakouts from inside the follicle, offering prevention and cure in one product.

If you have previous semi-permanent or permanent makeup, you should book a consultation to evaluate the current status of your brows, after which a plan of action will be created.

RISKS AND SIDE EFFECTS

  • Burning: Before application, if the wax is heated too hot, there could be burning of the skin.
  • Bruising: There is a technique to pulling off the wax that if done incorrectly, could lead to bruising (for example, if the skin is not held tightly when stripping the wax). While waxing looks easy, it is actually quite challenging to execute. Going over the same area multiple times also creates a potential for skin irritation.

Also, according to our experts, you should not have waxing done if any of the following apply:

  • You are using Retinol or vitamin C on your skin
  • You are taking steroids
  • You are on Accutane
  • You have bruising, swelling, rashes, open sores, sunburn or cold sores.
These are the key factors to consider, but there are other conditions that would make you a poor candidate for waxing. As always, consult your dermatologist before trying a new treatment.

Combination (T-zone), Oily Skin: Powder Brows is a special eyebrow shading technique that emphasises the natural contours of the eyebrows. Unlike the PhiBrows microblading treatment, where hairs are drawn, the Powder Brows technique uses many tiny dots to create a soft, powdered look for the eyebrows. Dry and normal skin are also suitable for this technique.
