TREATMENT
PhiContour Lips
Lips are part of the strategy of any woman for seduction. Lips micropigmentation procedures offer stunning improvements to the overall shape and colour of the lips and are the perfect, long-lasting solution for restoring lost lips contour and colour while correcting asymmetries. The most outstanding effet can be achieved with ‘full lips colour’ (Lipstick effect) technique, while the most natural look can be achieved with ‘full lips blush’ technique. A natural or intensive result can be achieved depending on the prerequisite for the natural pigmentation of the lips, the colour selection and the intensity of the shading. Of course, the lips could also be shaded in delicate nude tones.
Full Shading Lips need a maximum of 4 shading steps to achieve the absolute glamorous effect. The outline is precisely defined with an invisible transition to shading.
Full shading pigmentation is best suited for corrections and neutralising disharmonies and asymmetries, as well as concealing small scars and colour irregularities.
TYPES OF PHICONTOUR LIP PIGMENTATION
Blushing – This is the most natural form of lip pigmentation in which a soft amount of pigment is placed over the lips, enhancing overall colour and shape without looking like heavy lipstick. This type of pigmentation is perfect for customers who have lost the natural blush and youthful appearance of their lips or simply prefer to have a more bright and youthful pout.
Full Coverage – The lips are lined and pigmented completely. This type of pigmentation is perfect for lips that are lacking symmetry or have lost pigmentation of the outer edges over time. This type of pigmentation can be performed to look natural or more like the customer is wearing lipstick.
Ombre Lips – The lips are lined and pigmented in an ombre effect towards the centre of the mouth. This type of pigmentation is perfect for lips that are not symmetrical or have lost pigmentation of the outer edges over time. This type of pigmentation looks more natural and allows any size or symmetry issue to be addressed.
Annual Refresh – If you have previously been tattooed by Jeana and are ready for a refresher, the fee is £150 if the touch up is performed within 72 months of the initial application. This service does not include a perfecting touch up; however, if you would like to schedule an additional visit, the fee is £80.

Old PMU – Tattooing on old PMU requires an in house consultation or an image to be sent to Jeana. In most cases, if you were tattooed by another PMU artist, you will require two sessions as any new customer.
BASIC INFORMATION
PhiConour is a kind of cosmetic tattoo to enhance the lips. With the help of the finest needles, colour pigments are implanted in the upper skin of the lips. Permanent lip pigmentation is generally suitable for anyone and every skin type. The aim of a perfect lip pigmentation is to create freshness and optimal harmony in the face. Using the fine pigmentation method, the natural beauty of anyone will be emphasised, but irregularities will also be compensated for. With a perfectly designed lip you can enjoy a fresh and perfect look in all situations, a professional look that saves time, and look great even when performing exercise! If performed properly, lip pigmentation will be recognizable without overpowering your overall appearance.
The technique is intended for anyone over the age of 18. In order to successfully perform the treatment, the skin on and around the lips must not be in the regeneration process, i.e. it must not be damaged. If there is eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, acne, pimples or any damage in the eye and/or lip area, seven days before treatment the customer can use PhiTopic cream that will eliminate the problems and can be purchased from your technician.
Pain during the treatment is relative. Scared customers usually feel stronger pain, while the other customers compare such pain with the one that they feel from a sunburn. In addition, it is not recommended to do the treatment while menstruating or under extreme stress or fatigue due to an increased sensitivity to pain. Light anaesthetics, in the form of cream and/or gel, are used to eliminate some sensitivity during the procedure if no allergy is present. Swelling and bruising post treatment are possible but usually subside within 3 days of treatment.
Pigment is applied using a machine in the surface layer of the dermis of the lips. Pigment colour is determined according to the customer’s desired healed results. After healing, pigment can become several nuances lighter.
Treatment is done by using sterile and disposable tools and pigments are of the highest standard (PhiContour and After Ink pigments). Inserted pigment is very dark during the first 5 to 7 days. Seven days later, it loses up to 40% of its intensity. If you think that pigment is too dark, do not try to fade it by yourself.
The duration of pigment retention depends on the skin type and aftercare. The more emollient the skin is, the shorter pigment retention will be. Immediate sweating and sun exposure also affect pigment retention. On average, expected time until new refreshment of pigment will be within 3-5 years. Healing is usually completed around 28-46 days later and then it is necessary to add the pigment that was lost in the meanwhile. If the skin is problematic and oily, several such corrections can be made.
Post-treatment care makes up 70% of total treatment success. Conscientiously adhere to the given aftercare advice as provided by Jeana.
How successful the treatment will be depends on:
- skin quality
- post-treatment care
- exposure to various external influences
None of these factors are under the Artist’s control, thus providing any guarantee for the treatment is not possible.
Please consult with your artist if you:
- have problematic skin
- have serious health issues
- take certain medications
- already have an old PMU on your lips
Complications are possible and include, but are not limited to the following: discomfort, scabbing, bruising, swelling, scarring, allergic reaction, infection, pigment migration, colour/change, hypersensitivity in the tattooed area, granuloma and ablation. It is also important to note that Botulin toxin and/or filler injection and plastic surgery of the face can change the appearance and lead to the distortion of PMU.
BEFORE THE TREATMENT
Before each treatment, the skin should not be burnt, nor in the recovery or regeneration process (28 days post treatment). It is also recommended that you become familiar with the post-treatment care procedures.
The lips are vascular and can develop cold sores as a result of the procedure. Even if you do not frequently experience cold sores, it is advised to consult with your physician before your appointment in order to receive an antiviral prescription (that you should take both three days prior to and after treatment).
The following treatments are not recommended 14 days before the treatment:
- Botox and fillers
- avoid caffeine and alcohol
- laser treatments
- chemical peel
- exposure to strong sunlight
** Please review the full list of pre-procedure advice on the PMU page of this website prior to treatment.
AFTERCARE
Each customer receives an aftercare kit that includes all of the necessities to care for your new lips. Aftercare kits are provided after your initial appointment, perfecting application and annual refresh. Please use these items as directed (a list with Aftercare instructions is provided in your aftercare pack) and contact Jeana with any questions or concerns or for a digital version of the aftercare instructions.
PRE-PROCEDURE
Before ANY permanent cosmetic procedure, please review the following advice and consult your physician if you are currently receiving treatment and/or are unsure if the procedure is safe for you. All cosmetic tattooing procedures carry with them the risk of injury and illness. Please ask your technician if you have any questions concerning these risks.
- Please do not drink alcohol or high quantities of caffeine 24 hours prior to and after the treatment.
- Where possible, try to avoid the following herbs and spices prior to your appointment: Black pepper, Cardamom, any member of the Zingiberaceae (Ginger) family, Cayenne, Cinnamon, Garlic, Horseradish, and Mustard.
- Please do not shape or wax your brows at least 3 days before the procedure if receiving PMU. Your artist will shape your brows prior to the procedure.
- Do not have electrolysis for at least 5 days before and 5 days following the procedure.
- Botox, AHA products, brow/lash tinting and Retinoids should be avoided for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks following the procedure in your brow region.
- Exfoliating treatments such as microdermabrasion should not be performed within 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks following the procedure.
- It is recommended to avoid acne medications in the area to be tattooed at least 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after the treatment.
Chemical and laser peels should be avoided no less than 6 weeks prior to procedure and the brow area must be fully healed before any such treatments. Please avoid these procedures on your PMU as you will lose your healed pigmentation.
- You MUST stop using lash growth medications and/or serums in the area to be tattooed at least 3 weeks prior and 3 weeks after the treatment.
- If you are currently under the care of a physician for any type of Diabetes or Cancer, please consult with your doctor (and bring with you permission from your physician to have the treatment performed). It is generally advised to wait at least 6 months to 1 year post- cancer treatment before having any permanent cosmetics treatment.
- It is advised to consult with your eye doctor and/or lasik surgeon before you book an appointment for permanent eyeliner and usually patients must wait anywhere from 6 months to a 1 year after any surgery to have the eyeliner treatment.
- If you are prone to cold sores/fever blisters, you should take an antiviral both 3 days prior to and after each treatment (regardless of treatment area).
- Any injury to the dermis can cause the body to react with the creation of cold sores/fever blisters. The lips are especially vascular; therefore, more prone to develop cold sores as a result of the procedure. Even if you do not frequently experience cold sores, it is advised to consult with your physician before your lip pigmentation in order to receive an antiviral prescription (that you should take both prior to and after each treatment).
- Please be aware that hormone therapies can affect pigmentation and/or cause sensitivity.
- The procedure can require multiple application sessions. For best results, PMU clients will return for a perfecting retouch appointment (your first retouch is included in the initial fee). This will take place at least six weeks after the initial procedure. Those with oily skin may require an additional touch up. Please be aware that colour intensity will be significantly darker immediately after and lasts for a few days post procedure; however, the colour may reduce by 30-50%.
- Although numbing cream and gel can be used during the procedure, sensitivity or discomfort may still be present. Your skin may be red, swollen and/or bruised after the procedure.
- Please inform Jeana immediately if you are allergic to ANY numbing product – specifically Epinephrine, Tetracaine and/or Lidocaine.
AFTERCARE
Day 1 – After one hour, gently blot your lips with a clean cotton round to remove any fluid and apply Skin Candy or Vitamin D+A using a clean cotton swab. Therefore, throughout the day gently clean the lips every one to one and a half hours. Before bed, repeat the process above.
Days 2 to 10 – You may cleanse your lips 3-5 times per day using a gentle antibacterial soap, clean cotton rounds and bottled or distilled water. Always apply more Skin Candy/Vitamin D+A using a clean cotton swab after cleansing. Do NOT scratch, pick or vigorously rub your lips and avoid exposing your lips to makeup, sweat, chemicals, debris or sunshine (outdoor and tanning bed) for the whole recovery period.
***Swelling and bruising is possible and usually subsides within 24-72 hours post treatment. You are welcome to buy an ice pack from your local pharmacy to reduce the swelling in 10-15 minute intervals.
***Please avoid lake, river, pond and pool/hot tub water for at least 14 days in order to increase pigment retention and avoid infection.
Longevity Aftercare
In order to maintain the longevity of your new ink, please avoid Retinol/Retin-A, glycolic acid, other creams and serums containing AHA’s or BHA’s on or around brows, harsh sun exposure/sunburn (always wear sunscreen on your brows, face and lips) and continue to moisturise your tattoos when you would moisturise your face in your daily makeup routine.
